Spencer

I was trying to think of something good to post this week but once again we haven't done anything very exciting. Since this blog pretty much centers around Spencer I decided to just post some pictures of him.

Yesterday I worked down in Ogden so Matt and Spencer spent a whole day of quality time together. Matt said he heard Spencer slapping on something and he looked into our living room and this is what he saw...(Don't pay attention to the dust on the floor, just look at the cute kid)

When I got home from working last night Matt was making dinner (a creation of rice mixed with chili, diced tomatoes, black beans, chili powder, and corn) and Spencer was sitting in his chair pulling some funny faces...

Random Pics.

I know I haven't been a very good blogger lately. I'm sure many of you eagerly check my blog every day (I wish) and have been very dissapointed to keep finding the anniversary post. The reason I haven't posted is because I don't have anything exciting or very interesting to write about. But I decided I'd just post a few of the pictures I've taken lately.

This first picture was taken after I got home from shopping one day. It looks like Spencer was contemplating the universe when he fell asleep...

Our family and my sister's family went down to St. George for a few days so the boys could go skiing/snowboarding (I know, we left all the great resorts up here to go to Brian Head). While we were down there my mom's neighbor gave Spencer a much needed haircut. No more nasty mullet!

He was awful during the haircut. We gave him his first sucker, he loved the sucker but continued to cry and shake his head as he frantically sucked on the dum-dum, I wish so bad I'd had my camera.

We've all been sick with colds/sore throats the past few days so last night for date night we stayed home and made pizza, foccocia bread, and salad. Then after Spencer was asleep we watched the classic movie, "High School Musical". Here's Matt (thinking he's so funny)...

Spencer didn't get to eat pizza, he ate cut up bananas instead...

Notice the banana on his chin, it stayed there for quite awhile. We think Spencer has what is referred to in Matt's family as "The Male Ethington Numb Face". It is a condition where male Ethingtons don't seem to have any feeling in the facial area, which frequently causes large chunks of food on their face to go unnoticed. Since marrying Matt, I've worked with him on various strategies to combat his condition, such as periodically swiping his face with a napkin during meals, even if he doesn't think he has any food on his face.

This last picture I just thought was kind of funny. While we ate dinner we put Spencer in his saucer, this is him mid-jump...

Well that's all I can think of. Hopefully next time I'll have something a little more exciting to post about!

3 Years of Bliss...

Last Wednesday was our 3rd Wedding Anniversary. We didn't do anything on Wednesday except go to the temple (thanks for tending Cara!). But last night we dropped Spencer off at Matt's parents' house in Centerville and then drove to Salt Lake for a little overnight getaway. It was the first time I've ever left Spencer overnight, it felt really weird but luckily I have complete trust in Matt's mom's baby abilities. We went to Olive Garden, which is where we always go on our anniversary, then went back to our hotel and lounged in the hot tub until we were overrun by teenagers. This morning we slept in late, went to breakfast, and then went shopping. We didn't really do anything else too exciting. No offense to Spencer, but it was nice to just relax and have some time to ourselves; of course I was very happy to see him again this afternoon! Apparently we arrived to pick him up just after my mother-in-law had cleaned up a blow-out, perfect timing!

The Big Christmas Post...

We had a great Christmas this year! On Wednesday Matt worked a half-day and after Spencer's nap we drove down to Centerville to spend Christmas with Matt's family (we switch off every year, next year is sunny St. George). Here are a few pics before the big dinner...
After dinner we re-enacted the nativity. Matt was Joseph, I was Mary, and Spencer was baby Jesus (a very large baby Jesus). Here is Matt helping me to Bethlehem in my delicate state...
Here we are in our stable with a little sad lamb (my nephew, Jordan) standing by.
Lets take a closer look at that lamb...
Apparently he was ashamed at being made to dress up like a wussy lamb, poor Jordan. After the nativity we opened up some presents (sorry, no pictures, we got too caught up in the excitement of opening presents). We stayed up late visiting and then got to bed around midnight. The next morning we woke up, ate breakfast, and then opened up the rest of our presents.
Spencer had some cute Christmas pajamas but when I went to take him out of his crib in the morning he had peed through them...oh well. I got a kitchenaid and Matt got a GPS.Spencer's grandparents loaded him up with toys, books, diapers, and formula. He wasn't really interested in anything but the wrapping paper though.

We came home last night and our driveway was buried under snow drifts. Spencer and I had to wait in the car while Matt dug us a path to the garage.

Then Matt got to spend about an hour and a half shoveling the driveway while I made pizza with my new kitchenaid.

We hope everyone had as merry of a Christmas as we did. Christmas is a good time to reflect on the blessings of the year, our family has gone through many changes this year and we definitely have much to be thankful for!
