So we're a really photogenic family...

Just look at how nice the pictures from Spencer's birthday party with my family turned out last night...

I'm feeling a bit nostalgic over Spencer turning 2 yesterday so bear with me...

About 2 minutes old...

He came to us very chubby with tons of black hair. I remember he went away to the nursery for a bit and the nurse who brought him back (who I had not met until then) brought me a bunch of pamplets in Spanish, she apologized and went and got some new ones in English...hmmmmm.

2 days...

2 weeks...
He had so much hair that we had to dry it with a blowdryer after his baths, when we were done it would look like he'd had a little electric shock.

2 Months...

I'd say he was getting enough to eat at that time.

And finally...2 years!

Even though he's thinned out a bit we still think he's pretty cute! I won't try to be all deep and gushy but I'll just say we love him a lot!

St. George and Pre-Birthday Party

Here is our little future accountant nerd in the making...That has really nothing to do with this post but I just thought it was cute. Now on to our latest happenings...

Spencer and I went down to St. George for a week to stay with my parents and enjoy the weather. While we were there we visited Matt's sister, Becky, and Spencer got to play with his cousin, Gabriel (or "Gee-boo" as Spencer calls him), who is his same age.

These next 2 pictures are Spencer with some of the little neighbor girls who are also in my mom's school class. These cute girls came to play with him a few times. He LOVED the attention and had a blast showing off for them.

Spencer is going to turn 2 on Wednesday so on our way home we stopped off at my sister-in-law Katie's house and had a little combined birthday party for Spencer and his cousin, Corban. They were born within a week of each other. Here they are playing basketball. In the first picture you can see that Spencer is pretty bummed that he let Corban get a dunk past him.

But he redeemed hiself...

Katie made this awesome train cake for them. I'm thinking I'd like to do a combined party with Katie every year so that when Spencer is older and looks at his scrapbooks he'll think I made amazing cakes. Unfortunately cakes are not my thing and he'll probably end up with store-bought ones for his future parties.

They both loved eating the cookies off the cake.

They both got little monster trucks to help them with their white-trashiness.

The Easter Post

Spencer doesn't understand what Easter is yet but he definitely understands candy! I hid his Easter basket in his bedroom while he was eating breakfast and then we told him there was candy in his room. He ran in and yelled "Canny!" and then proceeded to try to stuff his mouth with all of it. Every once in awhile he'd stop to say "yummy!" or "cheese!" (he knows a camera means he should say "cheese").

After a lazy day of watching Conference and eating candy we went to my sister's for an Easter egg hunt and dinner. Spencer isn't a very good egg hunter, he just mosied around and kept trying to eat the candy out of the eggs he already had instead of finding new ones.

My niece, Marin, on the other hand, was a pro at egg-hunting. She had her bag filled to the brim and right before this next shot her bag tipped over. Matt yelled "hurry Spence! Get the eggs!" and she about had a nervous breakdown trying to gather up her eggs before Spencer could get to them.

Below is the yummy turkey dinner we had. You can tell by the seating arrangement who runs the show in this family. (Oh and please also notice how attractive my husband is)

Mother of the Year

So this morning I was on the phone with my sister and putting on my makeup and I thought Spencer was in the living room watching cartoons. Well I heard a big crash and ran into the kitchen and he was laying on his back on the floor crying. One of our kitchen chairs was pulled up to a window so I think he fell off the chair and maybe hit our counter. His mouth was bleeding and when I got him calmed down enough to look inside I saw that one of his front teeth was pointing backward and bleeding. So I took him to a pediatric dentist and he said he's going to have to have it pulled on the 13th. He said his permanent tooth probably won't come in until he's 7 or 8 so we can put a permanent retainer kind of thing in that will hold a fake tooth in place and that can stay in until he's old enough to start getting permanent teeth. Matt and I have dental insurance but Spencer isn't on it (we opted not to put him on because we figured he wouldn't need to go to the dentist until he's 3, I guess I didn't think about him having an accident). So because we don't have insurance it's all going to cost around $700-$800. So all you moms with kids out there, if it's cheap to have your little ones on your dental insurance then add them!

I took this picture after we got home. It's not a great picture but you can kind of see that his left tooth is farther back than his right tooth.

As I'm sure you can imagine, I'm not feeling like the greatest mother right now. Feel free to post a comment about a time you let your kid get hurt (the more negligent you were the better), or you can just tell me what a fabulous mom you think I am, either will do.
